Subject: AmazingIt really amazes me that the subject of the economy, while in the news and at the forefront of most news shows, isn’t really being talked about much by the average person. Are we all afraid of what may come of all this, the “ostrich affect” of burying our heads in the sand. I talk about my opinion on these subjects when the opportunity arises and when I voice my opinion most people look at me and have one of two things to say, “Your right or your nuts”. My opinion is very basic, I feel that the American people need to ban together and force change and action. Isn’t it the will of the people that is the controlling factor of our government, isn’t it what we say goes? How about this, everyone stop paying your property taxes. Sound ridiculous, why? You want to see rapid change in the spending habits of your town? Let’s see how fast they act when “EVERYONE” stops paying. We are all taxed up to our eyeballs and I say enough is enough. Someone needs to step up and take charge for the average citizen, the ones that are paying all the bills. Don’t recent events show us that the system is trying to keep all of us in debt? They are pumping money into the financial sector to encourage lending so we can borrow even more money, get further into debt and remain the scared citizens that have no time to do anything but try to afford to pay our debt. While all this is going on all the major jobs needed to provide the kind of wages required to maintain our standard of living are either long gone or leaving quickly. The only words we hear now are “bailout”. Why doesn’t anyone see that the bailouts are going to do nothing but prolong the inevitable? The country is falling apart, at our expense, and believe it or not a lot of people are making a ton of money while it happens. Why do “we” stand for this? Why isn’t everyone taking action? You want answers? Well I’ve got a few. How about the health care crises? I have the answer in a nut shell. Everyone that is not suffering from a life threatening illness cancel your health insurance immediately. Think I’m nuts? Let’s see how fast they bring costs under control. The only reason health care is so unaffordable is health insurance. The “industry” went completely out of control when their bills were being paid in full by insurance companies that were collecting billions in premiums. The result, the health care “industry” just kept raising costs. If no one had insurance the health care “industry” would be forced to charge the amounts its “customers” could afford. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. It’s business 101. Your products or services cannot be more expensive than your customer base can afford, if they are there is only one result, you go out of business. Same principles hold true in government as well. If we the people say we are done paying, guess what? We are done paying. The only problem is that unlike our founding fathers we have no guts to follow through. No one is willing to suffer or sacrifice for future generations, for our children and their children. The only thing I can say is that we will all be suffering anyway in the very near future. We will all have plenty to talk about on the bread lines, think it’s not possible? I can only imagine the reaction to this letter had I wrote it in September of 1929.
Good Luck to all,
Tony Wiese
